Today, I would like to talk to everyone about the AI zone projects. The combination of artificial intelligence and blockchain has been a hot topic lately. Today, I want to share with you a project called @Gaianet_AI, to see what makes it special and what changes it might bring us. If you're interested, let's take a look together:
1. What is Gaia?
The Gaia project aims to create an open-source AI foundation platform that does not belong to any specific entity. In simple terms, it is like building a "big platform" for AI, allowing developers to easily create AI intelligent agents across different knowledge bases and use them directly.
These intelligent agents are now just helping to handle specific small tasks, but in the future, they will gradually evolve into autonomous systems that can manage complex workflows and participate in processes that are not solely dictated by a single individual or company.
Just think about it, in the future, whether at work or dealing with household chores, there may be quite a few AI intelligent agents to help out. They will be interconnected, forming a large ecosystem, which might drive the entire digital economy to produce more new things and advance further.
2. What problems does Gaia solve?
Currently, those AI platforms controlled by one or a few entities have many issues, with value and control mostly held by a few institutions. Many people in the community are more like providers of labor and data, rather than truly participating.
This has created a dual barrier in terms of economy and cognition, making it difficult for many projects to advance. New contributors also have little say and their interests are not guaranteed.
Gaia wants to change this situation by using a decentralized design that allows anyone to participate in the AI reasoning process, and running a node can also earn rewards.
In this way, not only does it disperse risks and power, but it also relies on transparent rules and incentive mechanisms to make trust the foundation of this system.
In addition, Gaia allows the community to define the rules for data access, monetization, and distribution through programmable zones, ensuring that the value of the data fairly returns to the creators rather than being monopolized by a few institutions.
3. Technology and ecological network: some shapes have already emerged.
So far, Gaia has indeed made many tangible contributions. It has over 700,000 real users of nodes and has completed 17 trillion AI inferences, which shows that it is quite widely used.
In the ecosystem zone, Gaia has launched 58 smart agents, covering various fields of knowledge such as video production, graphic content, and stock-related tasks. It has also collaborated with several well-known projects, including working with the Coinbase developer platform to automatically process tasks using AI, which enhances security and reduces transaction costs; ai16z's Eliza can also be used on Gaia.
In addition, there are code writing assistants made by Gaia, VideoLangua which can translate video languages, and the Q&A platform Akeru that does not require centralized management. From these applications and collaborations, it seems that the Gaia ecosystem is quite vibrant, with significant room for development in the future.
4. Token Economics: The Multiple Roles of $GAIA
$GAIA is the core token in the Gaia ecosystem, with several uses. Let's take a look together:
1) Governance Network
Users holding $GAIA can participate in important decisions of the Gaia network through decentralized voting, such as emission plans, fund distribution, network upgrades, and what features to add. In other words, the future direction of Gaia will be determined collectively by many token holders, rather than by a single organization or team. It is truly a community governing itself.
2) Pay for AI service fees
Users need to pay with $GAIA when using the AI agent services on Gaia. There are over 60 active agents on the platform that can write, translate, code, trade, learn languages, and more. Users interact with these agents, and the tokens will be spent, forming a decentralized economic model.
3) Staking and Validation
Users can stake the Gaia zone to verify certain operations of the domain, such as how traffic is distributed, how computing power is allocated, and how nodes support these. Good performance will be rewarded, while poor performance will incur penalties.
Staking $GAIA also allows users to prioritize the use of those limited resources and exclusive features, improving their reputation within the ecosystem. Moreover, as the ecosystem develops, active participants may also receive grants and rewards.
4) DAO Management
In the governance of Gaia DAO, $GAIA holders can propose improvements, define the structure of the community, encourage promising projects with grants, organize community activities, etc. This can promote collaboration and innovation within the community, making the Gaia ecosystem more prosperous.
Looking at how the tokens are distributed, network contributions account for 32%, which is used to incentivize domain operators, node operators, and domain stakeholders to maintain the network;
The ecosystem accounts for 28%, used to expand the network, support builders, strengthen cooperation, and allow more people to use it; investors account for 20%; the team and advisors account for 15%; user incentives account for 5%, and this distribution is to ensure that the ecosystem can develop stably in the long term.
5. How is the team collaboration and financing situation?
The Gaia team has several experienced individuals, with a few co-founders having previously worked at well-known institutions such as Consensys and JP Morgan Quorum. Their industry experience can greatly assist in the project's development.
Moreover, it has also formed partnerships with well-known companies and projects such as ai16z, Base, and Coinbase, receiving strong support in technology research and development as well as ecosystem construction.
The financing aspect is also quite good, having raised a total of 20 million USD, including 10 million in the seed round and another 10 million in the A round. The investing institutions like ByteTrade (SIG), Mirana, etc. are quite well-known, and from these circumstances, it can be seen that the market recognizes it well.
6. How is the community engagement of Gaia and what are the future plans?
Gaia is currently quite popular in the community, with a considerable following on social media. Twitter has nearly 500,000 followers, a growth rate of 41%, and a total organic exposure of over 8 million times;
The Telegram regular channel has over 200,000 members, while the developer channel has about 1,000 people; Discord has over 170,000 members; Github has 637 followers, more than 4,900 stars, and the number of installed nodes has also exceeded 700,000. It can be seen that there are many users and developers paying attention, the community is quite active, and the ecosystem is slowly growing.
In the future, Gaia has planned quite clearly:
Technically, we will continue to optimize decentralized AI infrastructure, improve the efficiency and accuracy of AI reasoning, and enhance the statistical consensus mechanism and fault classification system to address more complex network environments and AI application needs.
In ecological construction, it will attract more developers and projects to join, enriching the types and functions of AI Agents, strengthening cooperation and integration with other Blockchain projects and AI platforms, promoting the development of the AI agent economy, and building a larger and more prosperous decentralized AI ecosystem.
Additionally, there are plans to launch the Gaia AI phone based on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which will feature an integrated Gaia domain system and node capabilities, supporting continuous mining and offline AI interaction, providing users with a more convenient and personalized experience, and also promoting the proliferation and application of the Gaia ecosystem.
Seven: What are the advantages and disadvantages of the project?
(1) Advantages
The innovation lies in combining the decentralization of Blockchain with AI, finding new paths for AI development, which may improve some issues of traditional AI platforms, making the AI ecosystem fairer and more open.
The people in the team are knowledgeable and have collaborated with many well-known companies and projects, which is helpful for project advancement and long-term development.
The actual performance is quite good, with many people using its nodes to conduct a large amount of AI inference, launching several AI agents, and collaborating with other projects. It can be seen that the technology is usable and has potential applications.
The token $GAIA has multiple uses, a reasonable distribution, and can encourage everyone to participate, which is beneficial for ecological stability.
The community support is also quite significant, with many fans on social media. Everyone is active, which has laid a good foundation for promoting the project.
(2) Disadvantages
Technically, putting Blockchain and AI together is quite complex, and there may be challenges in practice, such as needing AI to reason accurately and quickly, while also ensuring that the Blockchain network is secure and stable, requiring continuous effort in research.
In the market, there are more and more projects doing similar things, and it needs to highlight its own characteristics in order to develop well.
In terms of regulation, the policies in this industry are still changing, and promoting in different areas may encounter uncertain policies, which can affect the projects.
For users, although everyone is familiar with AI and Blockchain, ordinary users still need some time to fully understand and accept this decentralized AI platform. More promotion and popularization are needed.
Overall, the Gaia project is innovative and has potential in the decentralized AI infrastructure space. Although there are challenges, with a strong team, resources, and development momentum, it may perform well in the field of AI and Blockchain integration in the future, providing us with a more intelligent, efficient, and fair digital economy experience. Let's see if it can achieve its goals!
